The West Hancock School District has an opening for the 2021-22 school year for a 5-12 band instructor. The school district is located in the towns of Britt and Kanawha in north central Iowa. The communities are located about halfway between Mason City/Clear Lake and Algona along HWY 18. The district has around 600 students K-12 and while being a small district we have a very healthy and strong band program. On average 85-90% of students in grades 5-8 are in the band program and the high school typically has almost 30% of the students in band (45-50 students in high school band). Our students have recently had high placements and involvement in honor bands and in All State (2-3 students a year for the last couple of years, including a four year All State participant).
