Job Description

JOB SUMMARYCommunications Officer; 1.00 FTE Plan, develop, organize, and direct a highly visible and comprehensive public relations program to enhance the Corporation's image to its wide variety of constituentsAdvise and plan public relation interests, concerns, and consequences related to programs of the CorporationWorking knowledge of latest software in media publication and distribution, with an understanding of layout typography, hierarchy, color theory, patterns, and design principles to distribute information to the Corporation and communityKnowledge of brand vision across all mediums; knowledge of productions for collateral; including, resolution, size, and file-type as well as scanning, pre-press, and print production to effectively communicate to the Corporation and communitySelf-initiator and timeline driven to complete projects that benefit the Corporation to relay the good work of students and staffEnsure all news releases, press conferences, and press kits are prepared for board meetings, work sessions, and hearings. Responsible for oversight of all polling of public opinion related to the CorporationMaintain digital and hard copy addresses to provide information to the community efficiently and effectivelyServes as a spokesperson for the Superintendent and represents the Corporation at community eventsCoordinates and provides research and data upon request for Corporation initiativesAdditional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: Degree required. Coursework in journalism, communications, broadcasting, media, human relations, marketing or public relations preferredKnowledge of public relation principles and marketing best practice strategies; excellent grammatical, spelling, proofreading abilities and online communicationsUnderstanding of the public Pre-K through 12th grade educational landscapeKnowledge of legal matters, policies, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to the distribution of timely news and public informationAbility to present information regarding Corporation programs in a proactive, completed, and media sensitive manner; ability to prepare and deliver oral presentationsAbility to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with members of the news media, community leadership, and administratorsAbility to develop effective media communication strategies for diverse constituentsAbility to prepare and deliver oral presentationsTimeline driven, creatively inspired, and enthusiastic person essential for the job's performanceAble to analyze situations accurately and be adept at an effective course of actionAble to work independently and is recognized as a self-starterMust meet schedules and be timeline drivenExperience in media, communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, and graphics requiredExperience working with the public in the capacity of a public relations spokesperson preferredInnovative technology and social media use required
