Job Description

TITLE: Accountant

DEPARTMENT: Accounting

REPORTS TO: Controller

TERMS: Full-time

General Function: The Accountant/Bookkeeper must be a self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented individual. She/he works under the guidance of and assists the controller in preparing and reporting financial statements in conformance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Duties and Responsibilities: • Enters accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions • Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information • Documents financial transactions by entering data into the accounting system • Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures • Reconciling general ledger accounts as assigned by the controller • Maintain company and customer confidentiality at all times • Researches and interprets accounting policies and regulations as requested by the controller • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, continuing education, and reading publications and pronouncements • Establish and comply with reporting deadlines as outlined by management • Contribute to the team and be willing to work cross-functionally with other team members • Responsible for maintaining vendor/customer files

Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or a Bookkeeping certificate preferred; or relevant Accounting experience • Knowledge of GAAP and requirements therein • Experience in Quickbooks preferred, but not required • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; proficiency in Excel is desirable • Should possess good interpersonal and communication skills • Must be able to work with others in a team environment • Astute attention to detail and accuracy • Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple priorities and meaningful results
