California Western School of Law (CWSL) is seeking applications for an Educational Technician and Instructional Technologist (Educational Technician). Knowledge and experience with CANVAS is required. Under the direct supervision of the Associate Director for the Instituto Latinoamericano de Derecho y Justicia (ILDJ), the incumbent will be responsible for assisting faculty in established online and hybrid courses offered in CWSL's Maestria program, run by ILDJ. This position will assist with the administration of learning management system(s) (LMS). The Educational Technician will also monitor and troubleshoot synchronous online classes, which may be taught early mornings, at mid-day, after hours or on weekends, and provide technical support for online faculty and students. The primary responsibilities of the Educational Technician (include but not limited to):
Develops basic operating instructions, training materials, and online manuals for students, and faculty members.
Helps faculty identify best instructional delivery methods for different learning styles or levels of instruction.
Provides technical support for online LMS, including Canvas, and with educational videoconferencing systems such as Zoom and Elluminate.
Trains on how to use the LMS software for ILDJ programs.
Provides technical support and assistance with respect to video content management in online courses, including the use of Panopto, Moviemaker, iMovie, and Acclaim.
Troubleshoots LMS issues for the Maestria program as needed. Troubleshoots technical problems experienced by students and faculty during synchronous online classes.
Works with the school's Information Technology department as needed.
Creates and maintains databases for all programs.
Creates electronic messages, including invitations, postcards, newsletters, and other e-mail blasts for all programs.
Works with program coordinators to maintain and enhance the online media presence of ILDJ.
Helps facilitate Web video production and editing.
Works with Educational Technology Technician and Audio Visual Supervisor as needed to facilitate duties/functions.
To qualify, the successful candidate will have the following:
Bachelor's degree with major or minor in Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, Education, or related area of study required. Master's degree in one of these fields preferred.
Two years related experience required.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Spanish-language fluency, verbal and written, required.
Must be willing to work evenings and weekends, Saturdays in particular.
The individual must have daily access to a reliable vehicle. Must be able to obtain and/or maintain a valid California driver's license and personal vehicle insurance acknowledging the vehicle is used for employee's work purposes. Must maintain a clean driving record.
Advance-level computer skills.
Working knowledge of Canvas LMS is required.
Experience with videoconferencing, and some experience with video capture and video content management software such as Panopto and Zoom.
Experience with database programs required.
Familiarity with MS Active Directory.
Experience in word processing and MS programs is essential.
Aptitude for learning new technology.
