Role Mission: College Completion work at IDEA Public Schools delivers on the organization's mission of becoming the number one producer of low-income college graduates in Texas by supporting our IDEA graduates to ensure students' success to and through college. The work of the Alumni Affairs: College Completion team is to create college graduation and re-enrollment supports for students, staff, and alumni at IDEA Public Schools in pursuit of this mission.

Directors of Alumni Affairs College Completion coach and develop Managers of Alumni Affairs: College Completion, who build relationships with alumni and colleges and universities in Texas and across the Nation, supporting our students through to graduation from college. In this role, they focus on the onboarding, development, retention and career progression of Managers of Alumni Affairs as we believe that excellent coaching and support in higher education will help IDEA to achieve our mission of College for All. Thus, the Director of Alumni Affairs seeks to fully understand our alumni trajectory, along with building expertise around higher education and coaching, so as to better inform our support to and through college. In addition, the Director of Alumni Affairs College Completion will share out key learnings and data from our work in graduation and re-enrollment to improve our system's understanding of higher education and our graduates, informing the key work of K-12.

Accountabilities

55% of the Class of 2016 graduate from college in 6 years
  • Manage and coach a team of completion coaches who support alumni to complete the graduation process through coaching and behavioral science
  • Professionally develop team members through creating leadership development opportunities and supporting Inside Track coaching development
  • Utilize data to identify and analyze completion trends, especially students who are on track to finishing, and highlight bright spots along with areas to growth
  • Create and maintain systems, processes and efficiencies to support the completion goals of team
  • Create data-driven strategies for managers to implement with their alumni, supporting on time graduation
  • Plan re-enrollment strategies and campaigns to support students to go back to college and finish their degrees
  • Support managers through data systems such as Salesforce/Copilot and systems of communication such as Signal Vine, MyEmma , and Calendly
  • Manage budget for Alumni Affairs Completion work

25% of the Class of 2018 graduate from college in 4 years
  • Utilize data to identify and analyze completion trends, especially students who are on track to finishing, and highlight bright spots along with areas to growth
  • Manage and coach a team of completion coaches who support alumni to complete the graduation process through leadership development and Inside Track coaching development
  • Create team structures and operational plans to support completion work
  • Create data-driven strategies for managers to implement with their alumni, supporting on time graduation
  • Plan re-enrollment strategies and campaigns to support students to go back to college and finish their degrees
  • Support managers through data systems such as Salesforce/Copilot and systems of communication such as Signal Vine, MyEmma , and Calendly
  • Manage budget for Alumni Affairs Completion work

50 students from the Class of 2016 and Class of 2017 re-enroll in college and are on track to finishing in 6 years
  • Coach Managers of Alumni Affairs to re-enroll students who are "near completers" or students who are interested in accelerated pathways to increase completion rates
  • Create and strategically plan re-enrollment campaigns to help students access resources to apply to college, submit FAFSA/TAFSA, and register for classes
  • Connect with university partners to help students to find resources on campus
  • Partner with college counselors and campuses to identify students who are interested in returning to school

100 students from the Class of 2017 are on track to graduate in 5 or 6 years
  • Utilize data to identify students who are on track to finishing and strategize around best practices to support completion
  • Coach and develop Managers of Alumni Affairs to prioritize students who are close to completing and identify knowledge, skills, attitudes or beliefs to build with student to complete on time
  • Create systems and strategies to support re-enrolling students who are "near completers" or students who are interested in accelerated pathways to increase completion rates
  • Strategize and plan summer enrollment campaigns and graduation campaigns to build motivation and connect students to resources
  • Partner with key stakeholders and team, such as the career support team and universities career resources, to connect students with career resources and coaching to help them build motivation towards completing their degree

100% of the Class of 2022 matriculates to college
  • Create innovative pathways to connect students from the Class of 2022 with alumni who are already in college and near completing to build motivation and self-efficacy through the process
  • Support students through summer bridge programming, partnering with the Strong Start team to identify students who are concerned about matriculating to college and connect them to resources
  • Utilize data at the university to help students navigate around hurdles (i.e. registration, FAFSA, etc )

Supervisory Responsibilities :
  • Direct management of at least 1 and no more than 3 Managers of Alumni Affairs

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree, aster's degree preferred
  • Experience: 5+ years exemplary teaching experience or coaching/advising students, preferably at IDEA Public Schools; prior experience managing teams of coaches or teachers preferred
  • Licenses or Certifications (if applicable): Salesforce Administration certification preferred

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Deep understanding of college admission and retention processes at a variety of universities
  • Experience, or understanding utilizing college support systems on campus
  • Familiarity with higher education processes, including financial aid, student services, and academic advising
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills
  • Coaching or advising students in higher education settings
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel or other data analytics software (Salesforce, etc.)
  • Data analysis

Compensation

Salaries for people entering this role typically start between $73,900 and $90,200, commensurate with relevant qualifications and experience. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organization goal attainment.
