Job Description

The Staff Accountant contributes to City Year’s initiative to consistently improve its image internally and externally. The Staff Accountant displays professionalism, quality service and a pro-active “can do” attitude to internal members and departments, as well as to external vendors via electronic, telephone and in-person communication.

The Staff Accountant works within the accounts payable area. The duties and responsibilities include the timely processing of all accounts payable transactions, including expense reports. This position reports directly to the Accounts Payable Manager.

The Staff Accountant works within the accounts payable area.  The duties and responsibilities include the timely processing of all accounts payable transactions, including expense reports.  This position reports directly to the Accounts Payable Manager.

What you’ll do:

We’re looking for someone who is great at multi-tasking as well as one who is personable. You will be processing supplier invoices, reviewing expense reports, and disbursing payments on a weekly basis, as well as managing a few national accounts.  You’ll be attentive to detail and maintain files in a state of “audit readiness”.  The expectation is that you will have a willingness to help in whatever areas you can.  This team player attitude will allow you to thrive when called upon by your colleagues to assist in ad hoc projects.  Also, you will look to add value through process improvement and creating workflow efficiencies, i.e. reduce processing time, improve accuracy.

We’re looking for an amiable mission-driven individual who has a desire to impact a culture in addition to their core accounting work.  While having 3+ years of accounting operation and ERP AP system experience are important, we believe that good character and a positive attitude are of more importance. You will possess a good understanding of internal controls and execute multiple tasks within the deadlines in an always changing environment.  You have superior communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively within all areas and levels of the company.

Education: 

Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related field preferred and/or Equivalent Combination of education and experience
