MISSION: The Texas Education Agency (TEA) will improve outcomes for all public-school students in the state by providing leadership, guidance, and support to school systems.
POSITION OVERVIEW: In order to advance the mission of TEA of improving outcomes for all public school students, the Charter School Oversight and Development Specialist will support the operations and growth of high-quality charter schools in the state’s charter school portfolio by becoming knowledgeable on all aspects of a charter portfolio including the models, leaders, financial, academic and sector performance. This role performs advanced consultative and technical work related to an agency education program and works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The Charter School Oversight and Development Specialist reports to the Charter Portfolio Management Manager.
TEA is in the process of updating the classification of employees who are performing duties related to agency educational programs. Upon hire, this position will be reclassified as an Education Specialist IV, which is equivalent to the current Program Specialist VI classification in Salary Group B23. This is an administrative change that will not impact the compensation or seniority of this position in any way.

Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. Advanced degree preferred.
Experience: At least four (4) years of relevant experience in the field of public education. Charter schools experience is preferred.
Substitutions: An advanced degree may substitute for two years of required experience.
