Job Description

The Specialist - Community Engagement is located within the office of Family and Community Engagement and will support community engagement efforts to establish and maintain partner and volunteer opportunities that support student success across City Schools. Aspects of the position will support the district's efforts to build the capacity of community partners and neighborhood groups around key focus areas, including partnerships and volunteering, student wholeness, literacy, and leadership.

Essential Functions
  • Stewards relationships that cultivate strong and trusting school and community partnerships with neighborhoods and community partners.
  • Assists with developing a community engagement and communications plan to expand the district?s reach into neighborhoods and communities.
  • Conducts a landscape assessment of targeted neighborhoods to evaluate and assess the effectiveness of our existing framework for community and neighborhood engagement.
  • Supports training and technical assistance to community partners, volunteers, and district leads through the development of the Community Engagement Toolkit.
  • Assists with planning and implementing Family and Community Engagement trainings, workshops, and engagement events.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies; follow federal laws, state laws, school board policies and the professional standards.

Maximum Salary 81555.00

Minimum Salary 65908.00

Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor?s degree in education, social work, communications, or related field, required. Master?s degree preferred. Degree must be from an accredited college or institution.
  • Knowledge of community organizing, engagement, and partnerships.
  • Written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Familiar with data and evaluation to include monitoring and tracking.
  • Familiar with APA guidelines and copy editing.
  • Basic proficiency in graphic design (e.g., Canva, Piktochart, Photoshop, Adobe) for the creation of toolkits, presentations, and guides.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work under minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office required. Additional software and content management system knowledge a plus.
  • Prior event management experience a plus.
  • Familiar with education policy issues and interest in public education and improving outcomes for vulnerable children.
