This is Part-Time position:



Department: Exceptional Children

FLSA: Exempt

Report To: Director of Exceptional Children

Supervises: N/A

Job Summary: To provide expertise, resources, and support through interventions and/or psychological evaluations for regular and special education students, and to assure that appropriate services are provided.

Essential Functions :
Participate in the CARE Team process at each school in making decisions concerning at-risk students
Provide suggestions to EC teachers for remediation of students that are at-risk and/or identified as exceptional children
As part of the special education eligibility process, administer appropriate assessments, write reports discussing the results, and complete necessary paperwork
Participate in all eligibility determination meetings, as well as 504 meetings when needed
Conduct classroom observations and provide teachers with support and resources
Provide assistance to students per request by the principal, CARE Team, or administrative staff
Work cooperatively with EC staff to develop schedules for meetings
Serve in an advisory capacity for the Academically Gifted program

Other Functions :
Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Director of Exceptional Children and/or the Superintendent

Education, Experience, and Skills required :
Have or eligible for NC licensure as a School Psychologist
Previous school experience preferred: 3-5 years
Team player, self-starter, and the ability to organize, meet deadlines, and write effectively

Terms of Employment : 10 months -

Pay is based on the School Psychologist scale provided by the state

Annually receive 4.5% local supplement in addition to yearly salary

Travel to each school in the district required and mileage reimbursed accordingly

Evaluation : Performance of this job will be evaluated annually

Environmental Factors : Standard office conditions. Office located centrally at Stearns Building in Columbus, NC
