PCVA Hybrid Teacher

Goal:

Provide a teacher to support advanced courses at the smaller Pitt County high schools in a specific content area.

Employment Criteria:

The position will be filled based on the course content needs of the schools and the qualifications and skills of the applicants.
Content area has yet to be determined.
Job Description:

The PCVA Hybrid Teacher will:
  • regularly visit assigned high school campuses to work with students enrolled in assigned hybrid courses.
  • provide all course content through Canvas
  • teach courses utilizing a hybrid model of face-to-face and online strategies
  • respond to student comments and questions posted online and face-to-face
  • evaluate assignments, assessments and provide timely feedback
  • maintain records on student progress and grades in PowerTeacher Pro/PowerSchool and through regular communication tools
  • maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding student information
  • other duties assigned by the Director of Digital Learning

PCVA Teacher Skills and Qualifications

The PCVA Hybrid Online Teacher should posses the following:
  • Professional Skills
    • Four year degree required, from an accredited college/university and state licensure in the content area in which they are assigned to teach
    • Two years of related experience with online learning preferred
  • Content Knowledge - a broad understanding of several courses within a content area.
  • Technical Skills - be well versed in the Canvas LMS platform and have other working knowledge of digital tools to support the online learning environment. This teacher must also be able to maintain the PowerTeacher Pro gradebook and have a working knowledge on how to use Google Suite products
  • Communication skills - must have strong verbal and written communication skills to instruct and educate students, provide meaningful feedback on student work, and deliver regular progress reports to parents
  • Organizational skills - must have strong organizational skills to coordinate multiple courses scheduled across multiple school campuses

Supervision
  • The Director of Digital Learning will provide general oversight, guidance, and support
  • Formal Evaluations will be conducted by principals at schools in which the teacher provides instruction
