The Lynn Public Schools is seeking a Specific Learning Disabilities Teacher at Breed Middle School for the 2020-2021 school year.
Students in the Language Learning Disabilities Program are age appropriate for Grades 3-12 and exhibit the following features:
A significant learning disability as specified in the comprehensive educational, speech language, and psychological evaluations concerning phonological awareness/processing, language comprehension/ processing, literacy, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, memory, oral narratives, executive functioning, etc.
An inability to make effective academic progress that cannot be explained by intellectual, sensory, social emotional or health factors.
The learning disability significantly impedes social and academic learning in the general education classroom.
Inability to make effective academic progress in the least restrictive settings where classroom interventions were appropriate for learning needs.
Student Teacher Ratio: 1 teacher, and 1 aide maximum number of students 12.
Candidates interested in this position must hold a valid Massachusetts license in Moderate Disabilities, 5-12.
