The job of AVID Tutor II is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for providing intensive and extensive tutorial services for the middle school and high school students; assisting the student in his/her education endeavors; and willing to work closely with the AVID elective teacher.

Assists students for the purpose of achieving a better understanding of specific subject material and in improving academic capabilities in designated areas.
Assists students for the purpose of developing positive attitudes toward learning and studying;
developing self-confidence, self concept and reduce anxiety or fear of failure in academic work.
Attends meetings and in-service presentations as given by AVID staff members for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
Communicates with teacher and works under the teacher's direction for the purpose of being a liaison between the teacher and student if necessary.
Creates and instructs lessons monthly for the purpose of reinforcing academic skills.
Helps students for the purpose of developing the study skills necessary for academic success. Helps students for the purpose of developing a high level of motivation in academic areas.
Maintains records on each student being tutored for the purpose of documenting student follow up and periodic assessment.
Mentors seniors for the purpose of assisting students with college applications.
Provides academic assistance to assigned students either in a group or individually for the purpose of implementing instructional objectives ensuring students success.
Serves as a role model for students being served for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.Other Functions

- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Current College Student taking a minimum of 5 credit hours

SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing.
