Job Title: School Safety & Security Officer

Reports to: Designee

Terms of Employment: 245 days

Exemption Status: Exempt

Primary Purpose:

Under general supervision, provide security and protection for students and vehicles in student parking lot.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification in Related field preferred

Bachelor preferred in related field or educational administration from an accredited college or university, preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Understanding of the individual needs of special needs persons

Demonstrated knowledge of the rules and regulations mandated by federal, state and local agencies

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with general public, vendors, and district employees

Specific knowledge of subjects assigned

Advanced computer and technology skills

Ability to be accurate and efficient in all phases of assigned responsibilities

Ability to work with campus leadership

Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

The School Safety and Security Officer, under the direction of the designee for Security shall:

Greet, direct, and advise visitors to our campusPatrol assigend routes and grounds watching for unauthorizrd persons, fire, hazardous situations, and suspicious circumstancesMonitor all student parking lots checking for unathorized vehiclesInvestigate and respond to calls from administrators concerning on-campus security problemsNotify the administration of any situation requiring immediate or prompt attentionSecure all gates at the beginning of each dayControl and monitor traffic to and from the school campusPrepare offense, incident report, summary reports, and ensure thoroughness of informationComply with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulationsMaintain confidentiality in the conduct of district businessMust be able to perform essential functions of walking and interacting with students and/or district employees in the specific work site assignedDemonstrate regular and prompt attendance

Knowledgeable of school boards policy, administrative regulations and legal requirements related to assignmentMaintains accurate and complete records.Participates in professional development and training programs.Participates in organizations for professionals; gathers and disseminates ideas and information with other professionals.Maintains and encourages good working relationships with all stakeholders.Initiates and maintains effective liaison with District and community resources to keep abreast of ideas and developments affecting the District.Supports the goals and objectives of the school district and follows all district policies.Performs any other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisor.Demonstrates the ability to attend work on a regular and routine basis to avoid disruption to district operations.Demonstrates a high level of independent, ethical, and professional conduct.Provides optimal customer service to all students, employees, parents, community, members and any other stakeholders of the district.

Mental Demands/ Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Mental Demands: Reading; ability to perform basic arithmetic; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Prolonged use of computer and works with frequent interruptions.
