Job Title: CTE-CAD/Drafting Instructor

Contract Length:

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Summary

Position is responsible for creating a classroom environment to develop competencies and an understanding of information technology, computer aided drafting, construction and related areas to motivate each pupil to apply the subject area's knowledge, understanding and skills

Essential Duties
  • Develop and maintain a program budget following district and building guidelines.
  • Plan student laboratory problems which provide students with simulated industry-type experience.
  • Provide guidance and information services to students who are interested in the program.
  • Work with appropriate student/youth leadership activities.
  • Assume reasonable tasks assigned by the building principal pertaining to the operation of the school.
  • Works to ensure certification requirements are maintained.
  • Safely operates, maintains and instructs on all the equipment present in the Computer Aided Design and Drafting and Manufacturing program.
  • Sponsor co-curricular student organizations.
  • Will keep abreast of current software and applications.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)

Must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in education or a related field.

Must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Collegiate Professional License or Postgraduate Professional License with appropriate endorsement to teach elementary school

Must possess ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; and to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead.
