Job Description

"> At least a bachelor's degree in area of Special Education from an accredited four-year college/university Hold a valid and current Intervention Specialist License (Mild/Moderate, Moderate/Severe) or equivalent as deemed by the Ohio Department of Education
"> Adequate knowledge of students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders
"> Must be willing to be a member of a multi-disciplinary team focusing on the emotional and mental well-being of school aged students
"> Must be willing to participate in continuing education to continually build knowledge base and skill level working with students with Behavioral and Emotional Disorders within the hospital setting Currently certified or become certified in CPI Strong communication skills

"> The characteristics and various diagnoses of students with Emotional and Behavioral disorders Familiarity with various assessment tools, methods and functional behavior assessments Data Collection
"> Principles, theories, practices and techniques used in curriculum development and classroom instruction for students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders, ranging from Kindergarten through 12 th grade.
"> Knowledge of Ohio's Academic Content Standards including modifications and implementation to meet each student's needs
"> Curriculum and lesson plan development including differentiation
"> Positive Behavior Support Strategies
"> Strategies to improve or manage sensory regulation dysfunction across environments Strategies to improve communication and social integration skills across environments Strategies to de-escalate behaviors

"> Provide education to students from across Ohio in the Behavioral Health unit at Nationwide Children's Hospital
"> Follow all the Federal and State Guidelines for the Education of Children with Disabilities, IDEIA and the Operating Standards for Ohio's Schools Serving Children with Disabilities
"> Participate in daily and weekly meetings with faculty and staff on the Behavioral Health unit regarding status of current students
"> Conduct short pre- and post assessments to monitor individual student progress.
"> Support parents and family members as active participants in all aspect of the students' evaluation, educational services and decision-making
"> Communicate with students' school district of residence to obtain any necessary paperwork (IEP, class work) Communicate with students' school district of residence regarding needs for the student when returning back to school; this could include coordinating a meeting with hospital and school staff
