PO S ITIO N S UMMAR Y:

The Social Emotional Support Specialist wil l serve as a coach for district Pr i ority and/or Focus Schools identified under the Oh i o Department of Education guidelines . This position will serve the following high schools: Briggs and Walnut Ridge

E SS ENTIAL DUTIE S:

The Social Emotional Support Specialist will provide coach i ng a n d social emotional learning (SEL) support on how to embed SEL into daily instruction to two SQIG grant funded schools for target area "Positive Climate and Culture" . The duties will inc lude but are not l i mited to the fol l owing areas :
Essential Duties:
• Provide training and coaching to individua l teachers, PBIS building teams Teacher Based Teams (TBTs), and Bui l d i ng Leadership Teams ( B LTs) relative to Restorative Practices, Trauma Informed Care or other Social Emotional Learning frameworks as well as Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) implementation
• Support t eachers , PEAK IA's, inst r uctional coaches and TBTs in the implementa t ion of Social Emotional Learning frameworks and PBIS relative to the Ohio Improvement Process (OIP)
• Coac h building instructional coaches to effectively support classro om teachers in the i mplementat ion of Social Emotional Learning frameworks and PBIS, including PEAK IA's at the elementary level.
• Deliver professional development to teachers in a var i ety of areas including but not l imited to: Restorative Practices, Trauma Informed Care, other Social Emotional Learning frameworks, and PBIS
• Collaborate w i th t eachers , teams, adm i n i strators , ex t ernal partners , district departments, and community partners
• Support staff utilization of data to drive decision making processes related to PBIS implementation and improved school wide
Skills Required:

• Outstanding oral and written communications, organizational and prioritization skills
• Good interpersonal relations skills
• Considerable knowledge of the current literature, trends, and developments regarding school improvement and innovative practices
• Exceptional abilities to professionally coach and lead peers, colleagues and other district and school staff
