Operations Specialists will work under the direction and supervision of the school site Business Operations Manager (BOM). This position is critical for ensuring that the day-to-day operations of lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, physical space & buses (based on region) at the school site run safely and smoothly. Furthermore, Operations Specialists are responsible for ensuring that students maintain culturally appropriate behavior in all operational activities.

Arrival/Dismissal:
    • Set up, greet students and families, monitor students entering and exiting the building, and in all weather direct
    • Warmly hold families to campus attendance & safety protocols

Lunch:
    • Implement system for a compliant lunch service
    • Supervise students and implement the classroom management system in alignment with school culture and values
    • Complete food handlers certification
    • Creating a joyful environment for students to eat lunch in
    • Arrange set-up and clean-up for all food items, supplies, equipment, food preparation, and serving areas

Recess:
    • Implement recess plans with age-appropriate activities
    • Supervise students and implement the classroom management system in alignment with school culture and values
    • Utilize appropriate procedures and techniques to encourage safe play and relationship building
    • Implement all site rules and safety regulations (incident reports, phone calls to families, etc.
    • Report any unsafe conditions, including equipment, to administrators immediately (hurt student, unsafe student behavior, etc)

Buses:
    • Serve as bus monitors, take attendance, practice safe dismissal procedures, and create positive relationships with students and families
    • Document and report incidents based on school guidelines
    • Communicate with families

Physical Space:
    • Proactively participate in creating beautiful spaces for our children to learn
    • Respond to facilities requests and support teachers with classroom physical space
    • CPR/AED & First Aid certification provided

Professional Development:
    • Participate regularly in coaching sessions with BOM
    • Attend staff meetings and in-service training as deemed necessary for the position
    • Openness to receiving in the moment feedback from school leaders

Schoolwide Events:
    • Support with additional events as needed

Qualifications:
    • Commitment to Rocketship's mission, vision, and goals
    • Passion for working with children
    • Previous experience managing and/or teaching groups of elementary-age students is strongly preferred
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to engage and work closely with a wide range of staff members
    • Ability to learn laws, rules, practices and procedures related to public education and specific to Rocketship Public Schools
    • Flexibility and a willingness to learn

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.

Compensation:

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
