Report to: Chief Information Officer

Purpose: The Deputy Chief Information Officer remains engaged in the Technology adoption for all departments in the Town of Cohasset. Responsibilities include management of infrastructure, data management, telephony and application development applicable to the Municipal and Educational sectors. The Deputy Chief Information Officer also shares responsibility for all aspects of developing and implementing technology initiatives within the organization, including statewide projects tied to grants or regional efforts.

Essential Functions: The Deputy Chief Information Officer oversees staff in relation to the department operationally, in both a hardware and software support capacity. Additionally, the Deputy Chief Information Officer in conjunction with the CIO provides direction for both the hardware and software for all departments. The Deputy CIO is responsible for ensuring the continual functioning of the hardware as well as all systems and servers related to all departments. The Deputy Chief Information Officer will work directly with staff and department managers to deploy relevant solutions. Physically present at the school, the Deputy CIO focuses on the needs of the school system as it relates to using technology to educate students and enable staff to work remotely.

Strategy & Planning
•Participate as a member of the management team and assist with the execution of the architecture, telecommunications, networks, media, and hardware for both Educational and Governance needs.
•Deploy solutions tied to strategic technology planning and adoption to achieve goals by prioritizing technology initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future technologies.
•Collaborate with the Superintendent of Schools and CIO to develop and maintain a Strategic Technology plan for the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education that supports educational needs. This individual will work closely with school stakeholders to create and forward the technology vision of the Cohasset Public Schools.
•Develop technology plans in concert with the Assistant Superintendent and Chief Information Officer along with the school's Leadership Team for adoption of visionary curriculum solutions. In concert with the directives of the CIO, interact with school leadership and faculty to identify opportunities for better service delivery, including Digital Learning initiatives, AI and Virtual systems.
•Responsible for overseeing maintenance and development of systems to support town wide goals including curriculum needs.

Operational Management
•Remain up-to-date and knowledgeable regarding industry trends and emerging technologies in anticipation of new business processes and curriculum driven system alterations.
•Analyze and improve upon technology standards across the organization to maintain an advanced technological solutions platform for all departments.
•Creatively and independently provide resolution to technical problems in a cost-effective manner. Support IT staff in their efforts to successfully support staff, including escalation of open technical issues.
•Ensure continuous delivery of technical services through oversight of service level agreements with end users and monitoring of systems, programs, and equipment performance through vendor interactions.
•Ensure equipment and software operation adheres to applicable laws and regulations.
•Support IT Curriculum liaisons efforts to collaborate with staff for increased solution availability and access needs. In concert with the directives of the CIO interact with Leadership and faculty to identify opportunities for better service delivery, including Digital Learning initiatives, AI and Virtual systems.

Job Requirements
  • Other Duties and Responsibilities:
    •Performs other duties as assigned by the CIO.
    •Assume CIO duties in the absence of the Chief Information Officer being available.
    •Assist Municipal and First Responder departments and personnel with Technology needs as required. Ensure the development and execution of the Town's Master Technology Plan as it relates to the standards and compatibility of all common systems and Infrastructure.
    •Understanding of the organization's Educational and Governance goals and objectives while managing daily prioritization of infrastructure tasks and helpdesk requests.
    •Demonstrate an ability to apply technology solutions to business problems while offering input to department chairs and managers.

    Work Conditions: Requires working a flexible schedule and may include nights, weekends and attending meetings as required. Ability to handle interruptions and maintain productivity. Ability to work with diverse personalities. Skilled in working independently and collaboratively.

    Terms of Employment: Full Time, benefits according to Cohasset Guidebook.

    Starting Salary Range: $80,000-$87,000 dependent upon experience.
