The Manager, Education Research & Strategy (Manager) will join a talented team to lead in the day-to-day operations of evaluation implementation, help inform strategy, and support site-level learning and development along with efforts to codify key learnings from past evaluations and best practices in research. Reporting to the Vice President, Education Research & Strategy, the Manager will work on the Education Research & Strategy team, a part of the larger Transformation Team at City Year’s Headquarters. This team is responsible for leading the organization’s research, evaluation, and learning work, and plays a critical role in City Year’s efforts to continuously improve practices and inform systemic change. For example, you could lead the project management of a high-priority research project that yields important learnings about how best to support student success during and following Covid-19 induced school closures, contribute to a publication that captures those learnings and play a critical role in disseminating that information to inform not only City Year’s, but also the broader education sector’s work moving forward.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Project manage high-priority research project for the organization. You will utilize project management, research, analytical, collaboration and communications skills to collaborate with internal and external partners to successfully implement a research project that will yield important insights about the connections between students’ social, emotional and academic skills and the practices and contexts that best support the development of those skills.
Collaborate with City Year sites to support the implementation of research projects in an equity-based way. You will employ a customer-service mindset when working with City Year sites to ensure the successful implementation of research projects, including supporting the identification of research questions that are most important to sites, ensuring sites have the appropriate resources and tools, and harnessing the insights and expertise of both those closest to the work and other headquarters departments to support site success.
Conduct trainings on and codify learnings from current research projects, evidence of impact, and relevant research in the broader education field. You will use your strong research, writing, training and communication skills to provide ongoing trainings for internal and external stakeholders on key learnings from City Year’s research and evaluation work and produce aligned publications and training materials.
Provide operational support. You will leverage your strong organizational skills to lead all team operations including, knowledge management and administrative functions.
