Job Description

MISSION: The Texas Education Agency (TEA) will improve outcomes for all public-school students in the state by providing leadership, guidance, and support to school systems.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Teacher Incentive Allotment District Support Specialist will play a critical role in supporting House Bill 3’s Teacher Incentive Allotment, which aims to provide a pathway for outstanding Texas teachers to earn six-figure salaries. As part of the implementation of the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA), this individual will serve as a generalist and play a key role to ensure stakeholders understand TIA policies, timelines, and processes. This role will respond to email and phone calls from districts, teachers, and technical support providers, and maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service. The TIA Program Specialist will support administrative functions across the team, including scheduling, recordkeeping, and organizing team documents. 
This position reports to the Manager of TIA Program Support.

  • Serve as the primary TIA point of contact and communicate key information and policies to internal and external entities, including: interagency teams, participating and prospective districts, agency partners, teachers, and technical assistance providers
  • Accurately document details of external communications and assist with maintaining up to date information
  • Utilize existing platforms to locate information and respond to inquiries 
  • Assist with calendar coordination, information management, and setting meeting agendas
  • Support and contribute to other tasks assigned at the division, department, or office level

Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: At least [2] years of experience in education.

Substitutions: An advanced degree may substitute for two years of required experience.

  • Strong prioritization, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to organize and maintain information in applications such as Smartsheet's, SharePoint, and OneDrive
  • Experience working in customer service, exhibiting a positive attitude and professional demeanor
  • Working knowledge of district systems and preferred experience interacting with district administrators 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including tact, professionalism, and flexibility to work with senior district administrators, teachers, and the general public
  • Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce high quality work in a dynamic environment 
  • Ability to engage in a collaborative, results-oriented team environment 
  • A desire to self-reflect, give/receive feedback and continuously improve
