Moonshot edVentures, a mission-driven and values-based organization, builds a pipeline of diverse leaders to design and launch the schools and learning environments of tomorrow in Metro Denver with a focus on recruiting and training underrepresented educators and leaders who might not otherwise consider founding schools or programs. Moonshot identifies educators who are at least 2 or 3 years away from launching their idea and provides them with high-quality, comprehensive programming focused on leadership development, model design, and pathways to launch. Moonshot also connects Fellows to local and national experts who work in support of Fellows as they explore the launching and/or leading of charter schools, district turnaround schools, micro-schools, and after school programs. Moonshot is currently training its third cohort of Fellows and has begun to receive national attention as a model for a place-based approach to recruiting and training diverse school leaders with innovative visions of how to redesign learning environments for students. The Program Manager will be the right-hand to the Chief Program Officer in running Moonshot’s core programming, with the aim for this person to take on as lead facilitator of the Moonshot Fellowship in 2021-22. This role will have the balance of supporting group-learning/workshops, and also learning to deliver personalized supports to Fellows by offering direct support and/or becoming strong in connecting Fellows to the right people and/or opportunities. The ideal candidate will be an excellent relationship-builder, project manager, adult facilitator, and coach, with strengths in detail orientation and strategic thinking. A successful candidate is also a quick-learner and able to adapt/be flexible as the program evolves.


Duties & Responsibilities



A successful candidate is excellent at people development, with a focus on adult facilitation, learning experience design, and coaching.

  • Act as secondary lead on Moonshot Fellowship, with the aim to take on as primary facilitator for the 2021-22 cohort, at the latest:
    • Facilitate and ensure coherence of Fellowship experience for Fellows
      • Develop and/or revise facilitator guides and fellow agendas
      • Adapt fellowship programming dependent on Fellows’ needs
    • Facilitation will include:
      • Direct facilitation (runs entire session)*
      • Session design (includes several panelists/guests)
      • Managing of other facilitators/assisting in design (facilitators run full workshops)
    • For panelists and outsourced workshop facilitation, tasks include include:
      • Identification of additional external facilitators as needed
      • Liaise and manage content creation, development, and delivery of external facilitators to match coherence of program
    • Weave diversity, equity, and inclusiveness into programming
    • Solicit necessary feedback from team, speakers, Fellows, and Expert Bench to revise curriculum appropriately
    • Conducts check-ins with Fellows and makes necessary connections


Alumni Support

A successful candidate is a strategic thinker and an organized professional, able to manage a high number of relationships while providing individualized support.

  • Provides 1:1 support to our 50+ alumni network, including but not limited to career services, venture support, connection making, support in applications to other fellowships, etc.
  • Identifies and executes against strategies to support alumni
  • Brings network/connections and can facilitate those connections between external audiences and Fellows and alumni
  • Supports Expert Bench strategy
    • Manage Expert Bench advisors (e.g. program founders, school founders, and other early stage entrepreneurship advisors)
    • Facilitate and ensure quality of coaching interactions between Fellows and Expert Bench advisor



A successful candidate comfortably and simultaneously manages complex, fast-paced projects that involve contractor management, data systems, and a high volume of communication to and from multiple audiences.

  • Oversee the recruitment, application, and selection processes for upcoming Moonshot Fellowship cohorts
    • Manage a Selection Committee of 4-6 former Fellows and Moonshot staff
    • Conduct and present ongoing data analysis and adjust accordingly to staff

  • Salary commensurate with experience

Minimum Qualifications


  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in K-12 education, leadership development, and/or start-ups.
  • Strong alignment to the Moonshot vision and mission
  • Track record of successful adult facilitation and coaching
  • Ability to deliver programming on evenings and weekends
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required to communicate to others with widely varying understanding of issues
  • Exceptional at project management, with the ability to produce high-quality work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
  • Excited about a collaborative, start-up environment and eager to learn and take on new challenges


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree
  • Experience in non-profits, K-12 education, and/or start-ups
  • Experience in supporting early-stage founders (supporters of school founders or other education entrepreneurs preferred) and/or emerging school and program leaders
