Overview of the Position:

This position is a part-time evening Instructor position within the Minuteman Technical Institute, with an anticipated start of date of September 1, 2022 and end date of June 24, 2023.

This program runs four evenings a week (M/T/W/TH) from 4:30-9:00 PM.

The candidate for this position must be licensed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a Chapter 74 Automotive Technology instructor or have at least 5 years recent work experience with teaching experience and be in process of obtaining a Chapter 74 Automotive Technology license. Applicants for this position will be expected to implement instruction with a strong focus on Massachusetts Vocational Technical Curriculum Frameworks in Automotive Technology.

Compensation will be provided for planning and development of the curriculum, which will be conducted in conjunction with the Executive Director.

This position is a non-bargaining unit, exempt position, which is not covered under the Minuteman Collective Bargaining Agreement and is not eligible for benefits. Employment will be contingent upon the sufficient enrollment in the Automotive Technology program.

Major Responsibilities:
•Plan, implement and periodically update a program of study based upon the Massachusetts Vocational/Technical Curriculum Frameworks and industry recognized credentials that meets the needs, interests and abilities of students seeking a post-secondary experience.
•Actively work with Program Advisory Board, local business and industry, and other experts for continuous program improvement.
•Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of post-secondary students.
•Guide the learning process toward curriculum and establish objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to post-secondary students.
•Assess post-secondary students on a regular basis and provide progress reports.
•Maintain all records necessary for reporting grades, performance, and the documentation needed to support industry recognized credentials.
•Counsel with colleagues and post-secondary students on a regular basis.
•Maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
•Prepare and/or assist in the development of a departmental budget.
•Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing post-secondary student life and conduct.
•Assist the administration in implementing MTI goals and policies related to the educational and operational needs of the MTI Program.
•Maintain the condition of facilities.
•Perform any other related task or duty at the direction of the Executive Director.

•Licensed or licensable as a Chapter 74 Instructor by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Automotive Technology required. If not licensed, individuals must provide:
•Minimum 2 years teaching experience preferred.
•Minimum 5 years of recent (within the last 7 years) full-time experience directly related to automotive technology.
•Possession of current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in at least three areas of automotive technology.
•OSHA 10-Hour Certification preferred.
•Knowledge of the Massachusetts Vocational Technical Curriculum Frameworks for Automotive Technology is required.
•Previous experience with X2-Aspen grading system preferred but not required.
•Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required
•Ability to work as part of a team to foster a positive working relationship with students and staff.


Equipment Used: Copier, fax machine, mail machine, computer, familiar with Automotive Technology equipment.
Physical Demands (if applicable): Located in an Automotive Technology shop. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Most of the time is spent on your feet working with and observing post-secondary students while they work in the program area. On occasions there may need to move or lift light articles
