Job Description

Donor Alliance is hiring a Public Education Coordinator in Denver! The primary duty of the Public Education Coordinator is to plan and implement community education programs targeted at increasing awareness of organ and tissue donation and transplantation. This includes the development and implementation of curriculum, presentations, and multimedia resources that promote the organization's image; and educate and inspire support of organ and tissue donation and transplantation. The PEC oversees key educational programs including school program management, education and outreach to state and local agencies, including driver license offices, and coordination of Donor Alliance's staff speakers bureau.

Leads statewide middle school and high school education program, Transplantation Science, with the goal of educating students and inspiring
support of organ and tissue donation. This may include, but is not limited to:

Develop guided curriculum including lesson plans, written and video content development, and supporting materials; structured within guidelines and to enhance state-approved science curriculum.
Establish program elements that can be implemented independently by schools, including but not limited to remote and virtual learning.
Recruitment, training, and oversight of qualified per-diem classroom educators.
Marketing and promotion of the program to school districts, school administrators, teachers, and community members.
Program measurement and reporting.
Facilitate and teach curriculum as needed.

Spearheads driver license office outreach including strategic planning, material development, on-site visitation, performance assessment, and training.
Manages organization-wide speaker's bureau including training, outreach, scheduling, and reporting.
Develops and advances educational materials including presentations, video, and electronic content with the aim of educating partners and the general public on organ and tissue donation and transplantation.
Performs in-person or virtual training and education for the general public, volunteers, and partners.
Cultivates education and outreach to key target audiences. This may include assisting in strategic development, participating on multi- disciplinary committees, marketing and promotion of related programs, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Works closely with the PR/Communications team to develop, utilize, and distribute educational materials in conjunction with community programming.
Continually evaluates, analyzes, and makes recommendations regarding the effectiveness of existing and proposed programs.
Assists in preparation and oversight of relevant budget codes for programs; administers and reports on programs' budgets within established guidelines.
Serves as a resource for inquiries from the public about organ and tissue donation and transplantation.
Develops and maintains statistics, records, and reports as required by organization.
May perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communication, education, or related field and/or equivalent work experience required.
    Three to five years of experience in communication, public education, public health, or a related field required.
    Excellent verbal communication skills and public speaking experience required.
    Video and desktop publishing, editing, and design experience required.
    Advanced skills utilizing computer equipment and software, including but not limited to online presentation and e-learning software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Zoom (or other virtual platform) is required.
    Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team required.
    Ability to communicate in Spanish (read, write, speak) a plus.
