Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Appropriate Massachusetts certification required
  • Develop and administer music education curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives
  • Promote a classroom environment that is conducive to whole class, small group, and individualized instruction and student learning
  • Develop a balanced music program and lessons so that students have adequate time for preparation, rehearsal, and instruction
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student musical learning and progress, and modify instructional methods in inclusive settings
  • Utilize a repertoire of all types of music literature, as appropriate
  • Encourage family involvement in student's musical education and ensure effective communication with students and families
  • Encourage pupils to develop instrumental musical skills to the greatest extent possible
  • Uses teaching strategies, techniques and materials to achieve identified lesson objectives
  • Plans, rehearses, and directs pupils in musical programs for school and community
  • Participates in faculty meetings and committees, as requested
  • Performs other duties as assigned


REPORTS TO: Principal and/or other Supervisor

SALARY: In accordance with teachers' contract.
