1.0 FTE Middle School / High School Music Teacher Opening

Amity School District 4-J is looking for a qualified applicant for a middle school/high school music teacher. This is a 1.0 FTE position beginning with the 2022-2023 school year. Amity School District seeks to enhance the growth, maturity, and experience of Amity High and Middle School students and impact the community in a positive and powerful manner through its music program.

Amity School District seeks a full-time music teacher who can grow our program into one that is robust and serves a wide range of students from grade 6-12, offering band and possibly vocal classes. A successful candidate will understand and be able to promote the benefits of joining a music program, including the development of greater self-confidence, coordination and self-discipline, in addition to a heightened sense of responsibility, cooperation and teamwork. Amity School District believes that a strong music program will benefit its students in all other academic areas by assisting to develop the above traits and that our successful candidate will be able to implement the program with fidelity.

Amity School District will provide a generous stipend in order to cover co-curricular activities including pep band, festival participation and possible music club. The district has written its Student Investment Account plan to include strong funding for a growing music program, anticipating the need for additional instruments, music, and other equipment, supplies and repairs.


The applicant must:
  1. Hold a valid Oregon Teaching License with the proper endorsement.
  2. Have the ability to provide materials and lessons consistent with student grade levels, individual needs and the District Curriculum Guide.
  3. Have the ability to establish criteria both in skills and knowledge acquisition for awarding grades.
  4. Clearly stated and consistent classroom rules, and a reward and consequence system that motivates students to excel in your class.
  5. Consistently enforce this plan and hold parent conferences on discipline when necessary.
  6. Have strong oral and written communication skills, including proper word usage, punctuation and correct spelling.
  7. Possess strong skills for use of current educational technology and a high aptitude for mastering new technology applications. This includes computers and software, SMART boards and document cameras.
  8. Strong knowledge of CCSS and Smarter Balanced Assessment.
  9. Bilingual preferred.

Placement on the Amity School District Teaching Salary Schedule.
