Automotive Technology Teacher

This is a short term job posting is for the 2021-2022 School Year

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current New Mexico Public Education Department Secondary Vocational-Technical license or ability to obtain proper licensure within 90 days of hire.
  • Minimum 10 years of applicable experience in the Auto Industry.
  • Possess a minimum of two ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Entry Level Certifications.

  • Efficient organizational skills;
  • Professional written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality regarding Students, Staff, Parents, and School matters.


Essential Job Responsibilities of Teacher:
  • Coordinate Automotive program curriculum in collaboration with the RRPS Chief Academic Office and Curriculum & Instruction Department.
  • Ensure program explicitly defines site-based goals and district-wide objectives.
  • Prepare students for and deliver industry recognized ASE certification tests.
  • Order, inventory, and properly maintain all necessary and appropriate equipment for the Automotive program.
  • Implement approved curricula to achieve student learning at appropriate state standards and benchmarks level for each class in the program.
  • Arrange physical environment of the classroom for optimum learning and safety of students.
  • Use and apply appropriate conflict resolution skills with students when necessary.
  • Maintain positive attitude and ensure classroom environment is conducive to student learning and safety.
  • Develops goals and objectives for self, group, and student academic achievement
  • Maintain detailed and organized documentation to assure accountability and program integrity.
  • Provide appropriate instructional classroom lessons, labs, and activities.
  • Maintain consistent and effective classroom management policies.
  • Maintain consistent and accurate records of student performance and attendance.
  • Complete required reports and report cards within prescribed time frames.
  • Maintain appropriate contact with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
  • Arranges for and attend parent-teacher conferences.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and in-service training activities.
  • Possesses competent 21st century technology skills.
  • Create lesson plans and assignments specific to the Automotive Technology program.
  • Establish relationships with local businesses and nonprofit organizations to provide practical work experience for students.
  • Serve as adviser to students participating in the Career & Technical Student Organization (CTSO) Skills USA.

Work Hours:

Work hours are established in employment contract. Additional work hours may be assigned by the School Principal within the parameters of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Work Hours: Work hours are established in the employment contract. Additional work hours may be assigned by the School Principal within the parameters of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
