Job Description

A position has been declared open in the Weber School District in Maintenance for an Electrician. This position is for 8 hours per day, 12 months per year. Applicants may apply on wsd.tedk12.net Files will be reviewed before interviews are scheduled.

THIS POSITION WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FILLED, AFTER A MINIMUM OF 5 WORKING DAYS
Purpose Statement:
The job of Electrician Lead Worker was established for the purpose/s of maintaining electrical systems and components in safe operating condition; providing information on proper operation of electrical systems; identifying location of existing electrical systems; determining the efficient installation of additional systems; and directing department personnel as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Analyzes drawings for the purpose of identifying location of new and existing electrical systems and determining the efficient installation of additional systems.
  • Assists with snow removal (e.g. shovels, operating a snow blower and/or snowplow, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a safe environment.
  • Attends meetings as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  • Coordinates with administration and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
  • Designs electrical systems (e.g. construction projects, etc.) for the purpose of to meet district requirements.
  • Directing personnel as assigned for the purpose of maximizing the efficiency of the work force and meeting shift requirements.
  • Estimates materials and/or equipment needed to compete work projects for the purpose of ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Inspects project sites for the purpose of ensuring compliance with local/state regulations.
  • Installs electrical systems (e.g. under ground electrical conduit, switchboards, power feeders, branch circuits, lighting equipment, fans, panel boards, transformers, shop equipment, grounding system, electrical receptacles, ballasts in fluorescent light fixtures, worn light fixtures, etc.) for the purpose of providing updated, enhanced and/or upgraded electrical capabilities.
  • Oversees assigned personnel for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently and in accordance with established regulations.
  • Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
  • Procures equipment, supplies and materials for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items and completing jobs efficiently.
  • Recommends alternative construction methods for the purpose of assisting carpentry supervisor in solving construction problems.
  • Repairs or modifies electrical systems (e.g. overloads, lighting fixtures, controls and control circuitry for equipment, motors, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring proper/safe operation of equipment and/or complying with local/state building codes.
  • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Reviews work orders for the purpose of ensuring compliance with pertinent fire, building and/or safety codes.
  • Supervises workers and jobs as assigned (e.g. inspecting work, providing instructions, assisting with work assignments, etc.) for the purpose of providing supervisory support in the absence of the foreman.
  • Transports various items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.

Other Functions
  • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Must be able to adhere to safety practices; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and operating equipment used in electrical repair and installation and other skilled trades (i.e. power and hand tools).
  • Must have knowledge of electrical repair; construction work; electrical motor control; National Electrical Code; safety practices and procedures; and health standards and hazards.
  • Must be able to adapt to changing work priorities; interpreting electrical plans, prints and diagrams; and meeting deadlines and schedules.

Experience: Job related 3 -4 years' experience within specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Education: Community College and/or Vocational School degree with study in job related area.

Journeyman License Preferred.
