SUMMARY: Substitutes are non-contracted employees and work on an as-needed basis. There is no set number of hours or days guaranteed as a substitute. Substitutes will only be called to work while Adams 12 Five Star Schools is in session. Substitutes must actively substitute to remain on the substitute list.
NECESSARY SKILLS AND BACKGROUND: Possess or ability to obtain a valid/appropriate Colorado Educator License, or possess a 3 or 5 year substitute teaching license. One year substitute teaching licenses are accepted with Human Resources approval only.

Applicants must possess a substitute teaching license or teaching license in order to substitute teach.
All candidates for long-term assignments must possess the required license/endorsement or the ability to fulfill the requirements for the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2016. In order to substitute in a single assignment for more than five (5) days, substitute teachers must be considered in field (hold the correct endorsement) in the content area being taught.

The pay schedule for substitute teachers is:
Entry Guest Teacher$100.00 per day
Guest Teacher$120 per day
Long-term assignments $140 per day/$150 for retirees
(A long-term assignment must be for the same teacher, and be over 10 consecutive days.)
All new certified substitutes that hold a 3-year substitute license are recommended to take one online course through STEDI.org.
