Organization Overview
The mission of Citizens of the World Los Angeles (CWC LA) is to provide a socio-economically, culturally, and racially diverse community of students in Los Angeles with an intellectually challenging, experiential learning environment that develops each student's confidence, potential, and personal sense of responsibility in the world. - CWC Hollywood (Transitional Kindergarten - 5th Grade, opened in 2010)
- CWC Silver Lake (Transitional Kindergarten - 8th Grade, opened in 2012)
- CWC Mar Vista (Transitional Kindergarten - 8th Grade, opened in 2013)
- CWC West Valley (Transitional Kindergarten - 4th Grade and adding one grade level each year, opened in 2020)
- CWC East Valley (Transitional Kindergarten - 3rd Grade, and adding one grade level each year, opened in 2021))
Position Overview
The Manager of Recruitment is an experienced professional who embraces the central tenets of our mission - diversity, constructivism, and progressive education. The Manager is a people person who is energized by interpersonal engagement. They will become an expert in communicating the CWC story and are motivated by finding diverse, mission-aligned individuals to be a part of the next chapters in that story. The Manager will be responsible for CWC's teacher hiring processes and will consistently innovate and improve or design from scratch the systems and best practices to find the best talent to serve CWC students. The Manager will lead and co-lead searches for administrator positions across the region and for the regional support office (RSO). Through their various workstreams, the Manager will connect with nearly all CWC employees, so they are a culture leader, deeply grounded in our organizational core values and operating norms. They leverage personal organizational skills to manage multiple workstreams on aggressive timelines and operate with a commitment to excellent customer service for all stakeholders who engage with CWC. The Manager will work on a small but mighty Talent team and report to the Senior Manager of Talent Development. .
Responsibilities
Strategic Recruitment
- Lead all aspects of CWC LA's teacher recruitment and retention strategy and execution, inclusive of:
- Sourcing and active cultivation of candidates
- Development and management of regional teacher hiring committee(s)
- Initial phone screening of teacher candidates
- Refinement and development of best-in-class interview materials
- Participation in final interview processes and debriefs
- Advising school leaders on final candidate decisions
- Research and development of teacher pathway partnerships
- Research and development of teacher retention strategies
- Become a resource to support new and existing staff members with credentialing, supporting securing and clearing credential documents, and supporting them in applying for employer-authorized emergency permits
- Be the primary administrator for the regional applicant tracking system Helios and approver of all open positions
- Partner with the Talent Associate to ensure roles are posted on external job boards (e.g. EdJoin, SelectEd, LinkedIn, graduate schools of education boards)
- Develop systems and train regional hiring managers to maximize efficiency and usage of Helios and alignment of hiring processes and strategies across the CWC LA region
- Lead or co-lead searches for Principals and regional Directors while consistently prioritizing and cultivating a pathway to CWC LA leadership for internal and external candidates
- Serve as primary regional contact and source of guidance for school administrator-led searches for leadership team roles (e.g. Assistant Principals, school-based Directors)
- Develop and roll out process and division of labor documents for CWC LA talent searches and interview processes
- Serve as primary CWC LA contact for external search firms with whom CWC may partner for specific talent searches
- Serve as the CWC LA representative at employment fairs and events
- Partner with the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging (DEIB) team to ensure DEIB best practices are incorporated into all stages of the hiring process, hiring manager training, and recruitment materials
- Other duties, as assigned
Administrative and Compliance
- Support the Senior Manager of Talent Development with mandatory reporting associated with teacher credentialing (e.g. LAUSD oversight)
- Support the Senior Manager of Talent Development to ensure credentialing compliance for all certificated employees and support employees through the credentialing lifecycle
- The primary administrator of tracking and promoting CWCLA Employee Referral program, Staff Transfer Interest Form, and other efforts to support recruitment and retention
- Draft or serve as the second review on all offer letters for current and prospective employees
- In partnership with the HR/Talent team modify and/or develop tools and systems for an annual performance evaluation and management system for all CWC LA employees that will result in regular, genuine opportunities for employees to receive and offer transparent and constructive professional feedback then ultimately own and lead execution of annual cycles
- Research existing compensation and employer benefits analyses/studies and partner with other organizations (e.g. other charter schools, the Charter School Growth Fund, CharterSAFE) to develop or participate in compensation reviews to ensure that CWC LA offers a robust, competitive, and transparent total compensation package

Building Relationships and Investing in Others
- Serve as an advocate for and expert on the organization when engaging with all stakeholders but with a focus on building positive and supportive relationships with new staff members in the recruitment and onboarding processes
- Partner with the Manager of Human Resources and Talent Associate to ensure a seamless onboarding process for all new employees
- Actively seek feedback from staff members about the CWC LA staff experience to identify areas of growth and opportunities for improvement
- Actively engage with all employees to promote positive and constructive employee relations
- Build favorable relationships with external stakeholders to the benefit of CWC LA personnel, including partnering with other organizations to develop talent pipelines
- Coach hiring managers to have courageous conversations with candidates
- Actively reflect the culture of the workplace and workforce we seek to cultivate

- Have demonstrated technical skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and managing data
- Have demonstrated technical skills with an ATS (Helios experience preferred)
- Have three or more years of relevant professional experience
- Be proficient in communicating in a second language (preferred, Spanish and Korean as priority languages)
- Have school or classroom-based professional experience (preferred)

COVID-19 Vaccination Policy Vaccination is a vital tool to reduce the presence and severity of COVID-19 cases in the workplace and communities.
Citizens of the World Los Angeles has adopted this policy on mandatory vaccination to safeguard the health of our employees from the hazard of COVID-19. All employees covered by this policy are required to be fully vaccinated as a term and condition of employment at
Citizens of the World Los Angeles. CWC employees/ prospective employees may apply for medical or religious exemptions from this requirement. Exemptions are granted in very rare circumstances as CWC LA schools are co-located with traditional LAUSD schools, and on LAUSD sites, no employee can access campus without being vaccinated. We are required to follow LAUSD policy for those sites.
Employees will be considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the requisite number of doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. An employee will be considered partially vaccinated if they have received only one dose of a two-dose vaccine. Potential candidates for employment will be notified by CWC HR Dept. during onboarding on how to submit proper verification of COVID-19 vaccination prior to the start of employment.
