Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are currently seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Van Driver / Maintainer. This position reports to the Transportation Coordinator. The Van Driver/Maintainer will work forty hours per week between the hours of 7:00 am and 3:30 pm, with frequent overtime. This is a benefitted B grade position, with a salary range of $16.17-$20.50. As a School Year position, the driver will only work when school is in session. The district will consider strong candidates who are still in the process of securing a 7D license.

Duties and Responsibilities:

? Obeys all traffic laws.
? Observes all mandatory safety regulations for 7D vehicles.
? Transports only authorized students and staff.
? Maintains discipline when students are on van.
? Discharges students only at authorized stops.
? Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
? Keeps to assigned schedule.
? Notify the proper authority in the case of mechanical failure or lateness.
? Keeps assigned vehicle clean.
? Checks van before each operation for mechanical defects.
? Keeps daily van inspection forms.
? Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
? Enforces regulations on assigned vehicles.
? Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
? Responsible to check and add fluids, fuel and air.
? Performs other related assignments as needed by management
? Works in Maintenance when not driving and does all assigned duties, such assisting with Grounds, Carpentry, Painting, Moving, Repairing, and other trades as required by the Facilities Director or designee.

Required Qualifications:

? Valid Massachusetts drivers' license.
? Current 7-D van license (OR CDL with school bus endorsement).
? Certification of good health signed by a physician.
? Must have good driving record, knowledge of roads and surrounding towns.
? Demonstrated aptitude to assure performance of duties listed.
? Must have professional references.
? Acceptable CORI (Criminal Back Ground Check)
? Acceptable National Criminal Back Ground Check (commonly referred to as a finger print check).
? Effective written and oral communication skills
? Has knowledge or skills to work with special needs students

Preferred Skills
? Trade skills desirable (Licensed preferred)
? Experience with building and grounds maintenance
? CDL with School Bus Endorsement and/or Airbrake Endorsement
