The Position

As a complex national organization, Rocketship submits hundreds of required documents to authorizers, state governments, and other stakeholders every year, and meets many other assorted compliance requirements. While all teams across the organization are involved in ensuring we always fulfill these obligations, the Compliance Manager will take a leadership role in coordinating this across departments.



Essential Functions

Organization-wide Compliance

  • Refine and build out calendar of compliance requirements across departments and regions by evolving the structure of the calendar over time and partnering with various departments within Rocketship to research compliance requirements in current and potential new regions
  • Project manage completion of all requirements by partnering with teams to track their individual compliance-related work and directly project managing submission of authorizer requirements
  • Partner with Growth & Community Engagement and other regional team members to support requirements related to authorizer visits/audits

National School Lunch Program Compliance

  • Ensure our meal program remains compliant with all federal and state regulations
  • Own the contract bidding and creation processes for all regions, and resulting vendor relationships
  • Own the FRL application, and verification processes, and relationship with outsourced support partner
  • Coordinate preparations for meal audits, and serve as a main point of contact for audits
  • Partner with the School Operations team to create a vision for meal-related training, and to execute training delivery and tracking for Regional Directors of Operations, Business Operations Managers, Lead Servers, and others -- ensuring we’re “audit ready” year round
  • Partner with the Finance team as needed on their work around meal counts and reporting

  • Eye for setting up systems and processes that are user-friendly, especially for school employees

  • Strong listening skills, and an enjoyment of collaboration with teammates with diverse opinions and backgrounds

Educational Background and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3+ years of work experience in a role related to project management
  • An ideal candidate would have experience working in/with schools, and especially with school meal service compliance. In absence of this, an eagerness to dive right in and spend time in our schools to understand their operations would be critical.

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.
