OPPORTUNITY
As an essential member of the Green Dot Education team, the English Learner Coordinator will develop and enhance organization wide English Learner supports to ensure more equitable outcomes for our English learner students. This position is grant funded for one year.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to
Support the Identification, Assessment, and Placement of English learners by
providing training on and facilitating ELPAC administration
providing resources for student awareness and preparation for EL assessments.
facilitating the assignment of SBAC supports for English Learners
working with KM, SOMs, and counselors to ensure appropriate identification and placement of English Learners.
Develop and codify English Learner Programs by
refining the EL Master Plan to codify and communicate Green Dot English Learner supports for all stakeholders
ensuring EL programs meet state and federal guidelines for English learner services and that schools meet Title III compliance requirements
developing and supporting all ELD Newcomer and LTEL ELD programs
developing EL programs to fully meet the integrated and designated program criteria
assisting in selecting texts, materials and refining curriculum to serve Els
Monitoring the progress of English Learners by
developing the district English Learner evaluation and monitoring plan
monitoring compliance, student placement, and reclassification procedures at the site and district level
reviewing district and site English Learner data, meeting with principals to debrief data, and designing professional development to address areas of weakness
Supporting parent engagement and involvement by
providing resources to support schools with parent engagement and active DELAC involvement
collaborating with the Green Dot community engagement department and school site parent coordinators to ensure authentic parent engagement and involvement
Coordinating and building capacity of English Learner leadership across Green Dot departments to ensure alignment of supports
aligning strategic plans and supports across the ELD and Literacy Teams
coordinating and supporting the EL lead and Admin EL Lead positions with professional development and coaching
collaborating with LACOE and other charter management organizations to research best practices and develop programs
meeting regularly with Knowledge Management and Finance and Accounting teams to manage progress monitoring and title III program compliance
coordinating with curriculum directors to ensure effective integrated and designated ELD program implementation and support
working with the special education and psychological services to implement and monitor English Learners with special needs
assisting in recruiting teachers knowledgeable in meeting the needs of English Learners
QUALIFICATIONS
At least 4 years teaching experience at the middle or high school level
Bilingual, with competence in Spanish and English Languages preferred
Bachelor's Degree plus successful completion of the CBEST and CSET examinations
Master's Degree in Education (or related field) preferred
Previous EL coordinator position, administrator, or coaching experience is preferred
CA Single Subject Credential in English
CLAD or BCLAD certification with experience in serving English learners
Solid knowledge of subject matter including CA State Standards and ELD standards
Expertise in adolescent literacy and research on high school writing development
Experience developing and facilitating professional development
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Passionate about improving public education to help all children reach their dreams
Must have a strong ethical base and self-awareness
You will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (submission of proof of vaccination will be required)

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $93,000 - $103,000 commensurate with experience. In addition, the position qualifies for a one-time $2,500 signing bonus, paid in two installments after months 6 and 12 of employment (subject to change).
