Administrative NFLSA STATUS:
The job of Director of Human Resources is done for the purpose/s of outlining, planning and directing the process and programs necessary to maintaining positive employee/employer relations; assisting in developing and managing systems which will provide effective personnel services in accordance with applicable Federal and State laws, as well as Governing Board policies and regulations; and outlining, planning and executing the processes necessary to staff the District with qualified staff.
This position reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Monitor and plan certified, classified, and administrative staffing levels district-wide.
- Keep the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources informed of program activities and/or concerns.
- Supervise the preparation of and analyze various reports for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information to district personnel, local, county, state and/or federal agencies.
- Maintain acceptable behavior standards and ensure that behavior is consistent with District and program policy.
- Adhere to maintain all Arizona Department of Education and Scottsdale Unified School District policies and guidelines.
- Administer the District's certified, classified, and administrative employees' evaluation system for the purpose of ensuring that personnel practices conform to relevant laws, policies, and negotiated agreements.
- Advise employees and supervisors regarding problems, grievances, evaluations and disciplinary matters for the purpose of resolving items in accordance with District policies, procedure, and negotiated agreements.
- Assist the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources to develop, implement and supervise training programs for the purpose of developing better relationships, evaluation processes, and employee performance.
- Conduct or complete various surveys (e.g. salary, employee opinion, etc.) for the purpose of obtaining information related to human resource administration.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, increase turn-around times, and streamline work process for the purpose of working cooperatively and jointly to provide quality, seamless customer service.
- Develop and maintain collegial working relationships with school personnel, administrative support staff and others for the purpose of department goals.
- Direct and/or coordinate activities, programs, committees for the purpose of enhancing working relationships between various employee groups or meeting administrative and legal requirements.
- Implement assigned work plans, district policies, regulations and practices for the purpose of complying with the District's strategic plan and department goals.
- Investigate complaints of employee misconduct for the purpose of reaching resolutions that ensure a safe and positive work environment.
- Serve as a spokesperson in employee relations meetings for the purpose of representing and operationally defining the District's employment policies and procedures.
- Supervise and monitor the District's discipline and grievance procedures in consultation with the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and the General Counsel for the purpose of ensuring compliance with district policy and procedure as well as federal and state laws.
- Conduct and/or attend job related District meetings.
- Assist with ADA determinations.
- Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Master's degree in job related area.
- Job related experience within specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
- Teaching experience required.
- Administrative experience required.
- Experience in PreK-12 setting preferred.
- Principal, Supervisor, or Superintendent Certificate required.

Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time.
Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.NOTE:
