Job Description

The Athol Community Elementary School will be looking to add a Special Education professional to join our Special Education team. We are committed to providing students with a positive learning environment focused on meeting the needs of all learners. We engage students through utilizing a gradual release of responsibility teaching model in literacy. Our school embraces a 1:1 technology model to empower our students to have access to learning outside our school walls. We believe the ideal candidate will be an active learner in our school and strive to build a dynamic learning experience for all our students.

Job Requirements
  • Demonstrate an ability to collaborate with Special Education and general education teachers to design IEPs for initial and re-evaluation meetings
    Facilitate re-evaluation and initial IEP team meetings
    Assist in scheduling and maintaining IEP timelines
    Proofread IEPs and assist in consistent deployment of Special Education staff and related services
    Communicate with parents to set up, run and follow up initial and re-evaluation IEP meetings
    Collaborate with Director of Pupil Services and Special Education Coordinator as well as school administration on a regular basis
    Strong literacy knowledge with experience working with DIBELS and BAS assessments and a knowledge of Fundations
    Ability to facilitate meetings and develop IEP's through a team process
    Works well with community members, parents, and students
    Excellent written and verbal abilities
    Must hold a valid Massachusetts teaching license
    Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Early childhood or elementary (1-6) education
    Hold a valid Massachusetts Teaching License for Early Childhood
    Hold a valid Massachusetts SEI Endorsement
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
  • Bachelor degree preferred
  • Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required
