Lynn is a seaside urban district located on Boston's north shore. The city is known for its contemporary public art, historic architecture, downtown cultural district, and public parks and open spaces, which include the oceanfront Lynn Shore Reservation and Lynn Woods Reservation. Home to an international population, Lynn Public Schools services almost 17,000 students across 18 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 2 comprehensive high schools, 1 vocational school, and 1 alternative junior/senior high school. We are a linguistically-rich community with 68% of our students speaking two or more languages.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Strong desire to work with students in an urban setting
  • Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents and advocate for children in order to effectively problem solve
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders
  • Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply

SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides support to administration in screening public access to school facilities and grounds.
  • Assists administrative and instructional staff in implementing both the system's Unified Code of Pupil Conduct and specific building rules and regulations.
  • Assists staff in supervising non-instructional areas of both the building and immediate contiguous areas.
  • Offers support in the areas of crowd control, conflict resolution, and general public health.
  • Serves as a liaison between the staff and students in providing appropriate intervention and mature timely assistance in resolving student conflicts.
  • Maintains accurate, detailed records and completes routine reports as required by the administrative staff.
  • Performs such assignments and projects as requested by the School Security and Emergency Planning Liaison and Principal.
  • Ability to communicate with parents, students and staff.
  • Knowledge of criminal/civil law, existing state/federal regulation, first aid/public health procedures.
  • Appropriate training in first aide, CPR and AED and soft restraint.
  • Knowledge of the community, its agencies, and the racial/ethnic/economic population served by the Lynn Public Schools.

REPORTS TO: School Principal

An offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment physical, including a drug test, National fingerprint-based Criminal Background Check (NCBC) and Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI). All MUST be completed PRIOR to the start of employment.
