Job Description

Educational Instruction:
  • Plan and deliver comprehensive and hands-on carpentry lessons in alignment with the established curriculum.
  • Teach students fundamental carpentry skills, safety procedures, and industry standards.
  • Facilitate practical experiences like woodworking projects to enhance students' understanding and proficiency.
Curriculum Development:
  • Develop and update lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments to meet curriculum objectives.
  • Integrate theoretical and practical aspects of carpentry into the curriculum.
  • Keep abreast of advancements in the carpentry field and incorporate relevant content into lessons.
Safety Protocols:
  • Emphasize and enforce safety protocols in the carpentry workshop.
  • Instruct students on proper tool usage, equipment handling, and adherence to safety regulations.
Equipment Maintenance:
  • Oversee the maintenance and organization of carpentry tools and equipment.
  • Instruct students on the care and proper usage of tools, ensuring a safe and well-equipped learning environment.
Classroom Management:
  • Establish and maintain a positive and organized classroom environment.
  • Implement effective strategies for managing student behavior during hands-on activities.
Assessment and Evaluation:
  • Develop and administer assessments to evaluate students' comprehension and skills.
  • Provide constructive feedback on student work and offer guidance for improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to assess and improve program effectiveness.
  • Regularly communicate with students, parents, and school administrators regarding students' progress, achievements, and any concerns.
  • Attend parent-teacher conferences and other school-related meetings.
Professional Development:
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with industry trends and educational best practices.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance teaching skills and incorporate new technologies into the curriculum.
Extracurricular Activities:
  • Encourage and support students in participating in carpentry-related extracurricular activities, competitions, or clubs.

Qualifications for High School Carpentry Teacher:
  • Bachelor's degree in education with a focus on carpentry, vocational education, or a related field.
  • Teaching certification/license in vocational education or carpentry.
Industry Experience:
  • Substantial hands-on experience in the carpentry field.
  • Knowledge of industry trends, materials, and construction techniques.
Teaching Skills:
  • Effective instructional and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to convey complex carpentry concepts in an understandable manner.
Safety Certification:
  • Certification in occupational safety and health, with a focus on carpentry safety.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
