About RISE Prep Mayoral Academy RISE Prep Mayoral Academy is a small network of college preparatory public charter schools located in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, where college preparation begins in kindergarten. Our flagship K-8 school opened its doors to our founding class of kindergarteners in August 2015, and that founding class will now become our founding class at our newly approved high school. Through a rigorous curriculum, highly structured learning environment, and character education, RISE Prep Mayoral Academy ensures that all Kindergarten through 12th grade students achieve the academic skills, content knowledge, and character required for success in college and a life of community engagement.

Responsibilities of a College and Career Counselor
Help found and design a guidance and counseling program that is comprehensive and personalized, beginning in 9th grade, with the goal of successfully placing 100% of students in a post-secondary program or pathway that aligns to their individual goals Identify and employ resources for supporting students in identifying college and career goals that match their interests, priorities, and personalities, including for developing individual learning plans (ILPs) Collaborate with the leadership team in designing or identifying a high-quality advisory curriculum, centered around supporting students in exploring college and career pathways, and building the skills and resume to successfully apply to colleges or careers Orient scholars and families to the college application process and connect them with resources, including:
-Strategic course selections and transcript-building, including exploring alternate avenues for obtaining credits (e.g., ACN, CTE programs, dual and concurrent enrollment)
-Exploring summer and school-year internships, externships, and apprenticeship opportunities
-Beginning to researching colleges, universities, associate degree programs, professional certification programs, etc., that meet each individual student's goals, strengths, and interests
-Completing applications, including procuring recommendations, writing admissions essays, identifying scholarship opportunities, completing FAFSAs and evaluating financial aid packages and considerations, and completing enrollment Consistently communicate information to families and scholars about post-secondary opportunities and the application process, through postings, information sessions, and 1:1 conferences Build relationships with admissions officers in local colleges and universities and promote awareness of RISE Prep's program Collaborate with other teams to build positive school culture in recognizing and celebrating college-and-career-related milestones with scholars (e.g., College Signing Day, celebrating admissions and applications, etc.)

Serve as a Member of the Core High School Leadership Team
Work closely with principal to set vision and goals, and promote productive and positive team culture Participate in weekly leadership team meetings Provide school-wide behavior management systems and culture systems Participate in managing flexible and non-traditional academic programming, including scholar coursework through partner programs (e.g., ACN), dual and concurrent enrollment, CTE coursework, and internships Collaborate with special populations leads to implement systems that effectively support success for students with IEPs, 504s, MLL supports, behavior intervention plans, and MTSS plans Communicate and meet with families to support student success with meeting the expectations of our program Support occasional extracurricular events outside of school-day hours as needed, including family "town hall" meetings, athletic events, and social events Model professionalism for colleagues
