Specific Job Details: Starting immediately Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to maximize the learning experience of students with special needs, in academics, interpersonal skills and activities of daily living by implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities, outcomes; addressing students' specific needs; providing a safe and optimal learning environment. Brief Job Duties: The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas: Prepares student Individualized Education Plans: In consultation with parents and IEP team members, drafts, develops and implements IEP's and transition plans with measureable goals. Completes all special education paperwork accurately, according to regulations, and submits them on time. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. Successful prior special education teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred. - Experience with students with moderate and severe disabilities. ABA and positive behavior support training is required. - Organizational skill and ability to lead a large team and work cooperatively with others. . Full Job Description Certification/License: 1. Eligible for appropriate Maine Department of Education certification. (282/286) 2. Criminal History Record Check (CHRC), which includes Fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education Education: 1. Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment. 2. Masters Degree in related area preferred. Experience: Successful prior teaching experience for the grade levels and students with special needs preferred, but not required.
