Education is Freedom (EIF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educational equity and access. We empower students from underserved communities to succeed in college and beyond.

EIF seeks a dynamic leader to spearhead our HR function in this newly created role. As we enter a phase of growth and expansion, we need an innovative and strategic HR Director to guide us forward. You'll be responsible for building and leading our HR function, ensuring legal compliance, and championing the EIF mission and vision. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of our organization and make a meaningful impact in the lives of students. As the Human Resources Director at EIF, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our organization's future by building and leading our HR function from inception. You'll have the unique opportunity to craft our organizational culture, policies, and practices in alignment with our mission and vision. This newly created role is designed to provide leadership and direction to our HR function, empowering you to drive initiatives aimed at attracting, developing, and retaining top talent while innovating HR practices. You will also champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

● Lead the development and implementation of HR policies, programs, and initiatives aligned with EIF's strategic goals and objectives.
● Drive recruitment and talent acquisition efforts to attract and retain high-performing employees who embody our core values and commitment to educational equity.
● Develop and oversee performance management systems to assess employee performance, provide feedback, and support professional development and growth.
● Provide strategic guidance and support to senior leadership on a wide range of HR-related issues, including organizational design, workforce planning, and change management.
● Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws, regulations, and best practices, and mitigate HR-related risks and liabilities.
● Foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and champion initiatives to promote a positive and inclusive work environment for all employees.
● Manage day-to-day HR administrative tasks, including but not limited to drafting and editing documents, updating HR databases, and responding to employee inquiries promptly and professionally.
● Oversee HR operations, including posting job vacancies, coordinating recruitment events, and ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures.

● Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
● Minimum of five years of progressive experience in human resource management, with demonstrated success in HR leadership roles.
● Strong preference for candidates holding SRHM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification.
● Proven track record of driving organizational change, implementing HR initiatives aligned with strategic objectives, and fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
● Experience in the nonprofit sector, education, or working with underserved communities is highly desirable.
● Knowledge and understanding of Texas employment law and regulations is preferred, along with the ability to effectively navigate legal complexities and ensure compliance in HR practices.

● Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
● Capability to enter data into a computer, read computer screens and printed materials with or without vision aids.
● Proficiency in hearing and comprehending speech at normal levels in various environments.
● Effective communication skills in audible tones for clear understanding.
● Flexibility in bending, stooping, climbing stairs, walking, and reaching overhead.
● Physical exertion may be required to lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials up to 30 pounds.
● Occasional work in noisy and crowded environments with frequent interruptions.

● $80,000 - $100,000 starting salary and commensurate with experience.

● Exempt - Salaried
● At-will employment with a 12-month contract.
● Performance evaluations conducted in accordance with EIF’s policy.
