The Position

The CA family recruiter is a temporary full-time non-exempt position on Rocketship's Regional Team. This role is responsible for leading new family recruitment efforts for all 13 schools across the Bay Area (10 in San Jose, 2 in the East Bay Peninsula, and one in Redwood City), and creating a welcoming and seamless transition for families to our schools. The family recruiter will be a member of the Bay Area Family Recruitment team and will report to the functional leader for Bay Area Family Recruitment.

This position executes recruitment strategies, including canvassing, community organizing, and directly engaging with families. The family recruiter must execute their responsibilities with passion, professionalism, and a high degree of customer service. This position requires flexibility of schedule, including willingness to occasionally work weekend and evening hours as events demand.

The following are essential responsibilities:

Family Recruitment (80%)
    • Canvassing within recruitment areas specified by the recruitment plan you are helping to execute. Canvassing includes but is not limited to knocking on doors, tabling at local stores and events, and passing out flyers in high-traffic areas.
    • Coordinate a support team from schools in canvassing and tabling across school neighborhoods
    • Engage external stakeholders with a focus on developing existing relationships and building new partnerships that will help support the work of communicating educational options to families in the communities we serve;
    • Foster relationships and develop champions with community based organizations, faith leaders, elected officials, civic and community leaders that lead to positive engagement of the community and neighborhoods where Rocketship has and will have a presence; this includes but is not limited to church, preschool and or small businesses outreach
    • Maintain, organize, and manage recruitment communications with interested families and applicants, including email, voicemail, Rocketship's website, and social media
    • Coordinate student application data entry and support of central efforts to ensure lottery system data integrity

School Engagement (20%)
    • Support school leadership in developing plans for ongoing family engagement and events for building school community
    • Support in leading school tours for prospective families, in partnership with school Office Managers and Principals

Qualifications
    • A passion for Rocketship's mission to eliminate the achievement gap and a belief that all families deserve high quality educational options
    • High School Diploma required
    • Genuine enjoyment of "on the ground" work, combining people and project management with direct execution of detailed processes.
    • Absolute professionalism and customer service under all circumstances; ability to maintain strict confidentiality where required and discretion when involved in sensitive conversations
    • Ability to work through ambiguity, changing work priorities and deadlines
    • Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented, organized, and resourceful
    • Strong computer skills (especially with Google Suite), and ability to learn new computer programs quickly
    • Ability to work in a team as well as follow through independently to complete tasks as required
    • Fluency in Spanish is required

$17.50 - $17.50 an hour

The role requires travel to and work across the Bay Area, primarily across San Jose, Redwood City, Concord, and Antioch.

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.
