JOB TITLE: Campus Counselor
REPORTS TO: Campus Director
DEPT. / SCHOOL: Academic / Bob Hope School / Middle School Campus
WAGE / HOUR STATUS: Exempt/Full Time
Plan, implement and evaluate a comprehensive program of guidance, including counseling services to school assigned. Use a planning process to define needs and priorities of population served. Provide a proactive, developmental guidance program for all students to maximize personal growth and development.
Valid Texas Teaching and Counselor Certificate
Knowledge of counseling procedures, student appraisal, and career development
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Two years of experience in student services, social services, training, development, or related positions
Experience in an education organization with focus on improving student performance
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
1. Use majority of time providing direct services such as academic guidance, individual student planning, and preventive and responsive services.
2. Teach school developmental guidance curriculum to students.
3. Help teachers incorporate guidance-related information into existing curriculum.
4. Provide guidance to individuals and groups of students to develop education plans, career awareness, and social development of students using accepted theories and effective techniques. Adhere to Achieve Texas Guide.
5. Counsel individuals and small groups and address the immediate concerns of students. Provide individual developmental, preventive, remedial, and/or crisis counseling using accepted theories and effective techniques.
Individual Student Planning
1. Assist all students, individually or in groups, with developing academic, career and personal/social skills, goals, and plans.
2. Accurately and appropriately interprets and utilizes student data.
3. Collaborate with parents/guardians and educators to assist students with educational and career planning.
1. Provide consultation to students.
2. Confer with parents whenever necessary.
3. Consult parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant people to enhance their work with students.
4. Work with school personnel and school district residents to obtain resources for students.
5. Use an effective referral process to help students and others use special programs and services.
Assessment [Under the supervision of the District Testing Coordinator and in coordination with the Campus Director]
1. Participate in planning and evaluation of campus testing program.
2. Interpret tests and other appraisal results appropriately.
3. Monitor student academic performance, behavior, and attendance and assists with appropriate interventions.
4. Responsible for the organization, implementation, verification, collection, and distribution of materials for all assessments.
5. Adhere to testing procedures and deadlines set by the District Testing Coordinator.
6. Maintain databases and files as assigned by the Campus Director and District Testing Coordinator.
7. Assist in the correction of coding errors as needed.
8. Assist with investigating and preparing reports for reported test irregularities and report those to the District Testing Coordinator.
9. Serves as a resource person to Campus Directors and teachers to meet the instructional needs of students as it pertains to testing.
10. Interpret testing procedures and regulations for campus personnel.
11. Attend all assessment trainings as directed by the Campus Director and District Testing Coordinator.
12. Liaison between Campus Director and the District Testing Coordinator for proper implementation of assessment guidelines and criteria.
13. Ensure routine cycle of communication of testing information between campus personnel, Special Education, LPAC, 504, and RTI committees on testing program requirements.
14. Responsible for campus testing documentation compliance.
15. Responsible for the integrity and security of all assessments.
16. Monitor teachers, staff, and students during state and local assessments.
1. Plan school guidance and counseling programs to ensure that they meet identified needs.
2. Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of guidance program and make changes based on findings
3. Assist the campus administration in the development of the course selection catalog.
4. Compile, maintain, and file all required physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents.
1. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy in guidance and counseling area.
2. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
3. Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors.
4. Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.
5. Create and review student schedules.
6. Assist with campus requirements related to timely coding and submission of student/staff data for PEIMS accountability.
7. Review and code student information to determine the student's at-risk status on a yearly basis, completed prior to PEIMS Fall submission.
8. Assist the campus administration in the development of a comprehensive master schedule to meet the needs of the students.
9. Provide input to administrators and faculty on matters dealing with overall student performance.
10. Responsible for entering and maintaining academic records for all graduating students including transcripts of current and new transfer students.
11. Assist in arrangements for tutors and summer school work.

Computer with appropriate software, printer, calculator, copier, facsimile machine, overhead projector, and other specialized equipment that is particularly unique to the teaching assignment.
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures and data; maintain emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Frequent district-wide travel; occasional regional and state-wide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; steady phone interactions; frequent standing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting, pulling and pushing, and carrying small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment; occasional moderate lifting.

Bob Hope School is an open-enrollment public charter school with a current enrollment of 1,900 over three campuses in grades Pre-K through 12th. A fourth campus is being added for high school beginning in 2020-2021. Bob Hope School has provided a very rigorous academic program which has led to STAAR results that have surpassed the state's averages. For the 2020-2021 reopening, teachers will have three (3) weeks of remote instruction followed by three (3) weeks of in-classroom instruction with only five (5) students present.
Additionally, Bob Hope School elementary campuses are Montessori / Dual-Language.
