SUMMARY Responsible for planning instruction and/or adaption of the education program to enable students to benefit from educational experiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing students' individualized Special Education plans.
- timely submission, preparation, and implementation of special education documentation, programming, and paperwork including IEPs, RRs, NOREPs, Invitations to Participate, progress monitoring, data collection, etc.
- collecting data, and monitoring and evaluating student progress
- consulting and assisting staff needing guidance to support students with a learning disability
- sharing instructional strategies to facilitate inclusion
- leading IEP meetings
- using data to write IEP goals
- coordinating and facilitating parent meetings
- appropriately instructing students requiring learning and/or other support as needed
- participating in professional development
- completing and developing Functional Behavioral Assessments and writing Positive Behavior Support Plans
- instructing students in small or large groups
- planning lessons, implementing programs, and differentiating instruction
- complying with federal, state, and local special education regulations
- providing itinerant, supplemental, and/or full time levels of support
- all other duties as assigned by district administration
- providing additional support to the students within a general education classroom
EVALUATIONS Performance shall be evaluated in accordance with the Board's Policy on Appraisal.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE - Bachelor's Degree required
- Special Education K-12 required
WORK EXPERIENCE Minimum of 5 years teaching experience preferred LANGUAGE SKILLS Reading: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Writing: Ability to write reports, school correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Presentation: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, managers, employees, students, and/or the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
