Job Description Minimum Qualifications and Requirements: - Associates degree or higher in speech-language pathology, communications sciences and disorders, or communications disorders from a program accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Speech-Language Pathology or other organization approved by the Board.
- Current and valid speech language pathology assistant (SLPA) license issued by the State of New Hampshire.
- Prior experience in a school setting is preferred.
- Experience implementing appropriate therapy under the direction of speech language pathologist or NH speech language specialist.
- Valid driver's license and own transportation.
Specific Core Function: Assist speech-language pathologists in screening, evaluating, diagnosing, and treating disorders of communication. Assist in identifying and treating individuals who have Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) communication disorders. This may include disorders of speech, articulation, fluency, voice, verbal and written language, auditory comprehension, cognition communication and swallowing disorders. Speech-language assistants do not act independently, and must work under the direction and supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist.
Responsibilities of the Position: - Assist the speech-language professional during screenings and assessments (without clinical interpretation).
- Follow documented treatment plans/individual educational plans or protocols under the direction of the supervising speech-language pathologist/specialist ("speech language professional") and/or other licensed professionals.
- Provides direct speech language therapy services to students according to IEP goals for the purpose of ensuring compliance with established practices and procedures.
- Assists speech language professionals in individualized strategies, accommodations and the use of adaptive equipment for individual students.
- Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records and progress reports.
- Assist with Medicaid billing.
Specified Length/Hours of Position: This is a non-affiliated position, which follows the terms of district policies, following the school calendar, with 7 hours per day, 35 hours per week.
Compensation: $32.00/hr
