Job Description Welcome to the Vermont Learning Collaborative (VTLC), a dynamic and innovative non-profit agency that offers programs and district services to best serve the needs of the students and families of Southeastern Vermont. VTLC is partnering with Windham Southeast Supervisory Union to fill their staffing needs. We are seeking a full time elementary general special education teacher with experience working with elementary students in general education classroom settings to provide a variety of supports including but not limited to case management, consultation, co-teaching, individual/small group instruction and push in support. Qualified candidates must have Vermont Agency of Education licensure as a Special Education Teacher (or be eligible for reciprocity).
Job Requirements Responsibilities: This role requires case management duties. Knowledge of child development, including the implications of a broad range of delays, disorders and disabling conditions affecting learning and living skills. Ability to provide consultation to and collaboration with general education teams to ensure student access to general education curriculum. Ability to analyze the outcomes of special education evaluations to develop specialized instruction for the identified academic and social/emotional areas of need for each student. Collaborate with other professionals within the school's Multi-Layered System of Support (MLSS) as appropriate to support specialized learning outlined in the IEP. Support access to the general education curriculum through modifications and accommodations in collaboration with general education teachers. Build positive relationships with parents/guardians and maintain consistent communication about the IEP process, documenting contact, Participate in IEP meetings and complete IEP goal development on the current web-based IEP system. Ability to implement IDEA requirements in order to identify and support learning and social/emotional progress of students with disabilities. Ongoing data collection and review of the effectiveness of educational and behavioral interventions for each student to support consistent access to general education with the student's education team Adapt instruction and interventions with the education team that includes school general educators, counselors, related service providers, paraeducators and special educators. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge and experience using universal design strategies and positive behavior supports/interventions. Knowledge of Vermont State and Federal laws and regulations for IEP compliance. Building positive relationships with students, parents and other community partners. Provide direction to paraeducators, general education teachers and related service providers to assure the consistent implementation of IEP goals and behavior support plan interventions for the student.
