Rocky Mountain Prep opened its first school in 2012 with 130 students and has grown to four schools, working with over 1,800 scholars across two districts. Role Mission
The P.E. Department at Rocky Mountain Prep SMART is looking for a team-oriented health professional who can support young adults in achieving overall wellness. Someone who can instruct the various topics of Physical Education and Health with joy and rigor. As a shared campus, our instructors need to be flexible problem solvers, who can execute great lessons in sometimes limited spaces.
Every teacher at Rocky Mountain Prep SMART is also an advisor. Advisors serve as the bridge between the school and families, to ensure every student has a trusted adult in the building to advocate for what they need alongside them and their family.
In This Role, You Will...- Develop and implement a comprehensive physical education curriculum aligned with state standards, educational goals, and student needs.
- Plan and prepare engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans that promote physical activity, skill development, and overall wellness in alignment with DPS requirements for physical education.
- Deliver dynamic and interactive physical education lessons that incorporate a variety of teaching strategies, equipment, and activities to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Teach fundamental movement skills, sports techniques, and fitness principles while emphasizing safety, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Assess student learning and progress through formative and summative evaluations, including skill assessments, written tests, and performance-based assessments.
- Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment by implementing effective classroom management strategies, behavioral expectations, and discipline procedures.
- Integrate health-related topics such as nutrition, hygiene, and personal wellness into the physical education curriculum to promote holistic health education.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and participation in physical education activities.
- Stay current with trends, research, and best practices in physical education by participating in professional development activities, attending workshops, and collaborating with colleagues.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's and/or master's degree (any subject)
- Completion of CDE READ Act training and/or CDE Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) 45 contact hours
- Pass a background check
- Demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States
Must possess
one or more of the following:
- Current Colorado teaching license with relevant grade/ content endorsement ((K-12; 6-8, or 7-12))
- OR
- An official transcript demonstrating a degree (graduate or undergraduate) in secondary education and/or relevant content area
Preferred Qualifications- Minimum two years of lead teaching experience. (We define lead teachers as the primary teacher in the classroom who was responsible for all academic content.)
- Experience with progress monitoring, data collection, and analysis
- Knowledgeable about culturally responsive instruction and critical pedagogical framework
- Demonstrated success working with scholars from historically marginalized communities
Position SalaryThis is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with a salary range of $60,000 to $94,800 depending on experience and level of education.
