Position Overview: The school is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Middle School Math Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mathematics and a passion for teaching middle school students. The Middle School Math Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective math instruction, fostering a positive classroom environment, and supporting students in achieving academic success.
Key Responsibilities: Instructional Planning and Delivery: - Develop and implement lesson plans that align with state standards and district curriculum guidelines.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including differentiated instruction and hands-on activities.
- Incorporate technology and other resources to enhance the learning experience and engage students in the subject matter.
Classroom Management: - Establish and maintain a positive and productive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Implement effective classroom management techniques to promote student engagement and minimize disruptions.
- Foster a respectful and inclusive classroom culture where all students feel valued and supported.
Assessment and Progress Monitoring: - Assess student understanding and mastery of mathematical concepts through formative and summative assessments.
- Use data from assessments to inform instructional decisions and provide targeted support to students who are struggling.
- Communicate student progress to parents, guardians, and school administration regularly.
Collaboration: - Work collaboratively with other teachers, support staff, and administrators to ensure the success of all students.
- Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs) and contribute to the development of school-wide instructional strategies and goals.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in math education and middle school instruction.
Student Support and Engagement: - Provide extra help and support to students outside of regular class time as needed, including tutoring and after-school programs.
- Encourage student participation in math-related extracurricular activities, such as math clubs or competitions.
- Build positive relationships with students to support their academic and personal growth.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Middle School Math endorsement.
- Experience teaching math at the middle school level is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mathematical concepts and effective instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
- Commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and supporting the diverse needs of middle school students.
