Each member of the organization plays a part in achieving these goals. School-based staff members will work towards 2 or 3 metrics that are aligned to both their individual roles AND the Big 5. These metrics vary by position and are subject to change for the 2022-2023 school year.

Role Mission

The health tech will be stationed in the main office to assist with sick students as they arrive for care. Administering medications, caring for diabetic students, and assisting with communication home to families regarding medical needs will be daily tasks for this role. The health tech will also assist with the variety of COVID reporting-related duties.

In this role, you will...

The health tech provides support for students in the health office as delegated to by the school registered nurse. The health technician will administer medications, health treatments, provide minor first aid, will assist with needed health screenings, such as vision/hearing and COVID screenings. The health technician paraprofessional will also assist with documentation of immunization compliance, administering medications, and charting health visits appropriately. The health technician paraprofessional will work under the supervision of, and as authorized by the school's Registered Nurse.

The Health Technician Paraprofessional provides support for the nurse and all other COVID Coordinators as needed. The Health Tech helps to supervise the health office and COVID isolation room, screens individuals for signs and symptoms of illness, sends ill students home per sick policy and current public health guidance, with direction from RN, and helps to refer to COVID testing, as necessary.

DUTIES
  • Support School Nurse in Providing Delegated Care to Students
  • Administer Medications and Health Treatments to Students as Delegated to by RN
  • Provide Minor First Aid to Students in the building (and occasionally staff)
  • Assist with needed health vision/hearing screenings, COVID screenings, COVID f/u calls
  • Assist with immunization tracking, health visit documentation, parent (non-COVID) health calls
  • Monitor the COVID isolation room, COVID screenings, refer to COVID testing as necessary


Qualifications

Required:
  • CNA with QMAP, RN, or LPN
  • BLS/CPR certification


Preferred:
  • Speaks Spanish and/or has experience working with English Learners
  • Demonstrated success working with students of color


Salary

This is a part-time position with an hourly pay rate of $20,000 to $34,400 per hour for 4 hours a day and is not eligible for benefits.
