TITLE: 1ST YEAR MENTOR TEACHER

(Number of Mentors to be determined by the number of newly hired staff)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Mentor teachers needed to provide resources and ongoing support to new teachers and staff.
  • Focus on effective teaching practice, classroom discipline and management, analyzing student data, and organizing for instruction.
  • 50 hours of mentoring are required unless otherwise determined by the Assistant Superintendent. Mentors will meet frequently (formally and informally) during the school year to reflect on practice and plan curriculum and lessons.
  • Substitutes provided for peer coaching and observations.
  • Responsible for keeping a log of dates, times, and content covered in the required 50 hours.
SKILLS/ABILITY:
  • Must be a trained mentor or complete the district mentor training prior to becoming a mentor.
  • Minimum of 3 years on staff
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES and/or DEGREE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum Bachelors Degree
  • Mentor Training
SALARY: $750 Stipend per Mentee, subject to grant funding (may be prorated based on hours completed)

REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Assistant Superintendent

DiPietro Elementary (Preschool - Grade 3), Stall Brook Elementary (Preschool - Grade 3) Bellingham Memorial School (grades 4-7) and Bellingham High School (grades 8-12), and Keough Memorial Academy (grades 7-12) is our therapeutic day school for students with special needs.
