Minimum Qualifications: 4-year degree in nursing with a current valid license as a professional registered nurse; current
certificate in CPR and First Aid; completed 2 years of clinical or community nursing experience with a minimum of 200
days of nursing practice within the last 4 years. Must have or be eligible for appropriate Vermont Agency of Education
Salary & Benefits: As per Teacher's Negotiated Agreement. This is a 186-day yearly contract.
Position Goal: Support the District's reopening efforts and support school nurses across the SU with the development and implementation of health care services program, which is in compliance with the state and federal regulations, to promote
an optimal level of wellness for students and staff.
This will be an itinerant position and assigned as needed across 10 schools. This is a one-year position only.
Duties & Responsibilities include:
-Serves as health liaison between school, health care providers, parents and the community.
-Assesses student problems and makes appropriate referrals working with students, teachers, parents, and
health care providers as needed. (medical and mental health care professionals as needed.)
- Participates on the crisis team and school committees when appropriate.
- Provide preventative health services and direct intervention services.
- Use an appropriate referral process.
- Conduct ongoing student health assessments.
- Promoter of a healthful school environment.
- Planner and coordinator of communicable disease control.
