High School Academic Dean

Contract Length:

Primary Role:

To oversee the academic program of the school including the curriculum, methods, materials, assessments, and data being used in the classrooms

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Current North Carolina license, or be in process of obtaining

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years school environment experience

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Follow all Board policies
  • Maintain confidentiality of all student, parent, and staff information
  • Support and promote the school's mission, vision, and culture
  • Create a collaborative learning environment for all students and teachers
  • Systematically and fairly acknowledge failures and celebrate accomplishments of the students and staff
  • Practice fair and consistent evaluations of teachers and teacher assistants
  • Communication that provides timely sharing of information with staff, parents, and students
  • Communicates school's accomplishments within TMSA and with the school community
  • Assist the principal in designing scheduling processes that maximize staff input and address diverse student learning needs
  • Collaborates with staff to create opportunities for parents, community, and businesses to enhance learning opportunities in the school
  • Be easily accessible to staff
  • Effectively delegate tasks to teachers/department chairs in a way that provides professional growth
  • Actively seek and apply feedback from staff, parents, and students
  • Resolve short-term issues while balancing them against long-term goals
  • Analyze student performance data
  • Effectively utilize the latest technology to continuously enhance student instruction
  • Manage time effectively, including running efficient meetings
  • Other duties, as assigned, by Principal
